SASAFRAS is a small, slow fashion label run by me Oli, in Melbourne (Naarm). With a commitment to slow fashion and embracing individuality, SASAFRAS is my platform for bringing distinctive and limited-edition designs to life.

 

At SASAFRAS, i test my limits every day working as a one woman team. I direct every aspect of the creative process, from conceptualisation to design, photography, styling, editing and marketing. This hands-on approach ensures that each SASAFRAS creation is a true reflection of my artistic vision and meticulous craftsmanship. Every step of my process is an exploration of the skills I’ve developed (and still developing!) and of course my passion to have a contribution to society via sustainable fashion.

 

The heart and soul of SASAFRAS is the celebration of individuality. I take pride in producing limited numbers of each style, ensuring that those who choose SASAFRAS are adorned in exclusive pieces. Your fashion statement should be as unique as you are, and SASAFRAS is here to make that a reality.

 

The choice to navigate through a slow fashion path was an obvious one for me. It is our responsibility as designers to do our best to be sustainable. SASAFRAS proudly confirms that we only use locally sourced dead-stock and recycled fabrics, saving hundreds of metres of materials from landfill and repurposing them in innovative and unique ways. I find so much joy collecting every single fibre, thread and scrap to repurpose in further projects. All SASAFRAS packages are sent in compostable, re-usable mailers; a way of furthering our environmental impact right until the product reaches the customers hands. 

 

SASAFRAS is more than just a brand; it's a movement.  Let’s embrace authenticity and individuality, because we are all so damn special. Let’s redefine the narrative of fashion our own way, dressing for ourselves, and not being afraid to stand out. Let’s forget about following trends, we set our own that are unique to each of us! And forget about putting money into the fast fashion economy, that’s so pre lockdown! Support local and feel good knowing your contribution.
